ARE YOU SURE?
In my defense, I gave you the choice and you clicked the button anyway.
Sit down and let's get to know each other.
My name is...
Well, my name is...
I have been calling myself so many things lately that it's getting a little hard to keep up.
MARIE
Back when Marie still loved me, she tried to convince me that it was the most thoughtful gift anyone had ever given her. Though I did not believe her, I was grateful that she liked it.
At first, I thought it was part of her bit: appreciating the little things so I could give her even bigger things. But that theory quickly faded once we started living together.
How I got here
My mother’s silent tears are now a soft sob pulling from the deepest part of her belly tugging at the umbilical cord. Her pain floods my veins like a poison killing the last bit of joy in my reservoir ... Sadness rush over me as I roll around in my cocoon and position myself to place my feet at the top of her belly. The exact spot she was caressing a little earlier before my father left.
Kick
My mother gently placed a palm over her stomach where my foot was still poking around trying to feel steady. For a second I thought she was smiling but the tears kept coming. I kicked again reminding her that I was still alive and she had nothing to worry. No matter how hard I kicked the tears didn’t stop. She was now fully sobbing one hand on her belly the other over her mouth as if she is trying to stop herself from being too loud.
